Bekins names two vice presidents to lead sales and marketing

September 8, 2010 – Hillside, Ill – Company veteran Bob Dalaskey has been promoted to the role of vice president of sales development and Barbara Cox has joined Bekins as vice president marketing and communications.  Both bring a wealth of transportation industry and outside experience to their new roles.

Dalaskey’s new position is a strategic and tactical role, responsible for the company’s business development growth through new and existing sales programs, for multiple product lines including household goods service programs for the entire Bekins Company.

"Bob's experience and strategic approach have made him an exceptional asset for Bekins over the years,” said Greg Hoover, Bekins Van Lines chief executive officer.  “We're proud to reward his achievements with this promotion and look forward to his progressive leadership as we chart new success for our sales programs."

Dalaskey has been with Bekins for 18 years, holding progressively higher positions at the company’s corporate headquarters in Hillside, Illinois.  Prior to joining Bekins, Dalaskey spent eight years with National Car Rental System, Inc., and was a Regional Vice President of Sales with responsibilities that included sales training and corporate quality initiatives.

In her role as vice president of marketing and communications, Cox is responsible for capitalizing on the strengths behind the Bekins brand through public relations, advertising, corporate communications and corporate identity materials that tell the Bekins story.

"Barbara is one of the brightest marketing minds in our industry with a tremendous understanding of brand building in the digital age,” said Hoover.  “We're excited to have her on our team, and that she has committed to the growth and future that Bekins is building."

Cox brings 16 years of marketing and communications experience in the transportation industry, most recently as the director of marketing communications for Atlas Van Lines, located in Evansville, Indiana, where she managed the company’s marketing and public relations programs.  Additionally, she has held marketing roles in other industries including the non-profit sector.

A native of Berwyn, Illinois, Dalaskey attended Northern Illinois University where he majored in Business Management.  He is active in numerous industry associations and is currently a resident of Naperville, Illinois.

A native of Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky, Cox is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, majoring in Marketing.  She is a member of several industry associations and has served as a board member for various non-profit organizations.

"These two appointments are key to the strategic growth that Bekins is charting and the reorganization of our sales and marketing areas,” said Hoover, “and it speaks volumes about our future to have leaders of Bob and Barbara's quality in these important positions."
